Panels

The British Bankers' Association (BBA), advised by the Foreign Exchange and Money Markets Committee (FX&MMC), maintains a reference panel of between 7 and 18 contributor banks for each currency calculated. The aim is to produce a reference panel of banks which reflects the balance of the market – by country and by type of institution.

Individual banks are selected within this guiding principle, based upon 3 criteria:

  1. scale of market activity
  2. reputation and;
  3. perceived expertise in the currency concerned.

Every six months the FX&MMC undertakes an assessment of each panel, based upon a review of the contributors by the BBA. The review evaluates each bank to assess whether they still meet the above criteria and remain eligible to contribute to the benchmark.

BBA LIBOR currently fixes in the following 10 currencies:

AUD (Australian Dollar)
CAD (Canadian Dollar)
CHF (Swiss Franc)
DKK (Danish Krone)
EUR (Euro)
GBP (Sterling)
JPY (Japanese Yen)
NZD (New Zealand Dollar)
SEK (Swedisk Krona)
USD (US Dollar)

Any Bank can apply to be on any currency panel they choose and the BBA welcomes any potential contributor that trades in the London market. For the full composition of each LIBOR panel, use the links in the left sidebar.
